The allegations have created a stir in the political circles of West Bengal, with the BJP and TMC in a bitter rivalry ahead of the state assembly elections
In a recent development, Shubhendu Adhikari, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and Leader of Opposition, has accused Mamata Banerjee's government of financial manipulation worth hundreds of crores of rupees.
Adhikari took to Twitter on Thursday to share a copy of a directory, allegedly containing instructions to pay the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme to women soon, while expressing concern about the arrears of Lakshmi Bhandar of more than one lakh women.
Adhikari further claimed that Mamata Banerjee's government is on the brink of bankruptcy, yet the looting of money has not stopped before the elections. The West Bengal Beverages Corporation allegedly owes Rs 4000 crore, while the West Bengal Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited reportedly owes Rs 2300 crore.
Adhikari accused the government of misleading the people by hiding behind documents, while a team of bureaucrats and officers find unethical ways to divert money. He added that the common people are suffering due to this.
